This is a fast-paced learning environment, but students always have the option to return to the class or attend alternate classes, free of charge once they have completed the class and attended one time. Virginia Phlebotomy Certification Requirements

In Virginia, only a trained specialists, including nurses, doctors, and phlebotomists, can draw blood for testing purposes. Virginia does not require a phlebotomy certification in order to work as a phlebotomist. However, having that certification can increase your overall confidence as you apply for employment. In addition, some hospitals and medical care providers may require a phlebotomy certification before hiring. 


In order to obtain your phlebotomy certification, you must:


  • Be 18 or over
  • Already hold a diploma or GED


You may need to go through a specific training program in order to receive your phlebotomy certification in Virginia.
