Virginia Phlebotomy Certification Requirements

In Virginia, only a trained specialists, including nurses, doctors, and phlebotomists, can draw blood for testing purposes. Virginia does not require a phlebotomy certification in order to work as a phlebotomist. However, having that certification can increase your overall confidence as you apply for employment. In addition, some hospitals and medical care providers may require a phlebotomy certification before hiring. 

 

In order to obtain your phlebotomy certification, you must:

 

  • Be 18 or over
  • Already hold a diploma or GED

 

You may need to go through a specific training program in order to receive your phlebotomy certification in Virginia.
