Phlebotomy Certification Requirements in Nebraska

To become a phlebotomist in Nebraska, you follow the required process. First, you will need to go to a training institution and enroll in a phlebotomy training program. The program will require you to complete 60 hours of theoretical learning and at least 40 hours of lab training. 


Upon successful completion, you will be eligible for certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).  After receiving your certification, you can obtain a practicing license. You will need to complete a one-year experience in clinical phlebotomy to qualify for the certification from the ASCP Board.


However, unlike in other states, in Nebraska, certification is optional. You don’t have to be certified before you start practicing your career. Nonetheless, you may need to seek certification to be able to work in other states where certification is necessary.
