Our Phlebotomy Training Program

When you choose to train for your phlebotomy career at Phlebotomy Specialists, you will learn from the best. In Indiana, the phlebotomy course is a 48-hour course that includes book learning and hands-on practice. On the final day of training, students can choose to challenge the National Exam.

During the course, you will learn anatomy associated with the veins and arteries in the arm and medical terminology. You will learn phlebotomy best practices, blood collection procedures, the vials you will use for blood collection, and the order you need to use them.

During the hands-on portion of the course, you will learn how to draw blood from veins, capillaries, and arteries. Using VeinViewer™ technology, you will be able to see the actual blueprint of the locations of the veins and learn to translate that into identifying the veins by touch. You will practice blood draws on your peers in the classroom, giving you hands-on experience.

Once you have completed the course, you will be fully qualified to work as a phlebotomist. Thanks to the “student for life” policy, if you ever need to review materials or brush up on your venipuncture skills, you will be welcome back to the classroom.

VeinViewer™

VeinViewer™ is an innovative tool that uses Active Vascular Imaging Navigation (AVIN). With VeinViewer™, students get a clear view of the veins inside the arm. Since hands-on training involves drawing blood from your classmates, this technology brings a more comfortable experience to all.

Traditionally, phlebotomy students are taught to feel the veins through the skin. With VeinViewer™, students can actually see what they are feeling. While the veins are easy to identify in most patients, phlebotomists encounter tougher patients who are difficult to draw blood from. These patients usually require multiple sticks for a successful blood draw.

VeinViewer™ makes it so that you can see a blueprint of a patient’s veins before a stick. This substantially cuts down on the need for multiple attempts, which reduces the patient’s pain and suffering. Being trained using the VeinViewer™ makes you more marketable to prospective employers.

Phlebotomy Training Specialists is the only phlebotomy training program in the country that has put forth the financial commitment involved with including this technology in their training program.

Why Choose Phlebotomy Training Specialists?

When you successfully complete the training with Phlebotomy Training Specialists, you have the knowledge and experience to begin your career immediately. You also have the very marketable skill of having been trained using VeinViewer™ technology. As VeinViewer™ becomes more standard in hospitals and practices, the call for phlebotomists trained in the technology will continue to grow.
